An interactive platform for monitoring the work of the Constitutional Court
This website offers access to a free, dynamic platform for tracking Constitutional Court statistics. The site aims to:
- Serve as a research tool for constitutional law students and scholars.
- Generate discussion and debate amongst researchers, legal practitioners and journalists on Constitutional Court trends.
- Provide an easy-to-use and interactive platform to generate interest in and awareness of Constitutional Court cases.
- Offer insight into emerging issues in Constitutional Court jurisprudence.
Background
This project was initiated by Nurina Ally and Leo Boonzaier, researchers at the Faculty of Law, University of Cape Town. In collaboration with the Centre for Law and Society and the iNtaka Centre for Law and Technology, they worked with a data scientist, Neil du Toit, to establish this pilot platform. Justin Winchester, a former law student at the University of Cape Town, provided invaluable research assistance.
